I have been working as a facilitator, trainer, actor, and coach for the last 15 years. Having completed a Bachelor of Education from the University of Melbourne in 1991, I taught on and off at the secondary level until I decided I would like to act. I trained in Melbourne at the Acting Studio from 1993-1996 and have been involved in theatre and television for the last 20 years I have a passion for adult learning and particularly enjoy taking organisational leaders on a learning journey to be the best they can be through self awareness and effective communication. In particular, developing leaders to manage, motivate and coach their staff to reach their full potential. Georgia Bolton

Bio:
In 1994 I went to university to become a child psychologist. After completing a double Bachelor degree in Psychology and Media, my passion for the arts was ignited and my focus turned to an acting career, one I have successfully pursued until the present day in television, film, theatre and voice work. While this may sound like a distinct change I saw a strong commonality, the fascination with the observation of human behaviour. I also, around this time, began teaching the craft I loved to others at various acting schools around Victoria, which I continued to do for the next decade. In 2001 I saw the benefit of combining these skills while touring theatre in education to High schools, drawing on my psychology training to run the subsequent debrief and Q+A sessions with students and teachers, delving into teenage issues such as mental illness, sexuality and bullying. This was further confirmed by working as a simulated patient for training doctors, a stepping stone for moving into the corporate arena where I was lucky enough to start working regularly as a professional corporate actor and coach. This gained momentum quickly and by 2004 the majority of my work (alongside being a professional actor) was in training, facilitating, coaching and roleplay, where my focus remains. I am passionate about working with people, stretching mindsets and creating awareness around behavioural patterns, observations and potential shifts. Having clients return with insights and feedback around changes they’ve made as a result of our work together is often not limited to the workplace, stretching to personal relationships and applications, an experience I find most rewarding.

Simon Wilton

Bio:
A key motivation for me in the work I do is the privilege of seeing palpable (and measurable) positive shifts in people’s well being. The science is in, well being can be taught and retained and it directly correlates with better business outcomes. Improved bottom line results, much lower sick days and attrition rates as well as more effective home lives. I have had a particularly diverse career seeking out life experiences and challenges that have somehow symbiotically led to where I am now with ShowUp. Fresh out of Sydney University where I studied Film, Italian, English Literature and Psychology I went out on a seemingly incongruous tangent to work as a Manager of a couple of camps on the Dampier to Perth Gas Pipeline in very remote areas of the West Australian desert. This segued into roles managing a large hotel in Central West NSW and a couple of night clubs in Sydney and Melbourne where I also worked as a DJ. I have worked as a carer for people with disabilities, a hospital wardsman and on the telephone selling theatre subscriptions. Somewhere along the line I was accepted into the Victorian College of the Arts (Melbourne Uni) and completed the 3 year professional acting Advanced Diploma. I should say this was not completely out of the blue, my first paid acting job was when I was 12 with the Australian Opera and since then I have worked on multifarious theatre productions with most of the major theatre companies and many TV series as well as Film, radio and anywhere else my skills could be utilised. I have taught at the VCA and the National Theatre and for the Sydney Theatre Company particularly with kids doing it tough in the outback. One of the jobs I was offered upon leaving VCA in 1990 involved ‘corporate acting’. At the time this involved performing at events, enacting roleplay scenarios and officiating at conferences. Since then I have worked fairly consistently with organisations in the private and public sectors and with growing experience, skills and qualifications the work developed into facilitation, training and coaching, forum theatre as well as creating safe and practical ‘simulations’ of challenging scenarios for people to apply skills, share ideas and be even better at what they do. This is also where my passion for Positive Psychology and Authentic Leadership has developed. Not just the theory and science but the practical application of these in an ongoing way. I have now worked with literally hundreds of different organisations in virtually every sector all over the world from High Court judges to miners to financiers to medical researchers, manufacturers, Defence, educators, Telcomms you name it as well as coaching at all levels from the ‘C-suite’ to shop floor. The common thread through all of this, helping people, wherever they find themselves, to get the best out of what they do.
